Obituary for Anna Linnea (Hurtig) Hollertz

Anna Linnea (Hurtig) Hollertz, born November 2, 1927, died November 5, 2018, at age of 91 years. Long known for her positive outlook and compassion for others. She would always say “This too shall pass”. Words we keep close to us to help us when we feel low. She always knew what to say. She will be greatly missed!

She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren and many loving relatives and friends. Karen Hollertz, husband Keith Lewis, son Rob Lewis, all of Allison Park, PA; Judy Ellinger, husband David, of Springfield, OH and son, Matthew Ellinger, of Columbus, OH; Valerie Young, husband, Stephen, daughter Kalle and son, Steele, all of Freeport, ME; Mark Hollertz, wife Keren Paquette, of West Hartford, CT, daughter, Liliana of Northampton, MA, son Toby and daughter Maire, also of West Hartford, CT.

She is predeceased by her husband, The Reverend Warren R. Hollertz of Ridgway, PA, and siblings Edward Hurtig, Carl Robert Hurtig and Elsa Lamont.

She was born in Milton, MA to Edvard and Hildur Victoria Andersson. Some of the places she lived were Dorchester, MA, Rock Island, IL, Winter Park, FL, Ridgway, PA, and Valencia, PA.Her many accomplishments include Director for Retired Senior Volunteer Program for Elk and Cameron Counties, and North Central PA Office of Human Services, Ridgway, PA, National Assoc. of RSVP Directors,President of Bethlehem Lutheran Women of ELCA, Member of Task Force to develop a Hospice program in Elk County, Camp Mental Health-Mental Retardation Advisory Council, Senior Review News Editor, senior newspaper for 3 counties. Trainer and volunteer coordinator. Secretary to vice president, The Babb Company Inc., Newark, NJ. Senior Clerk, Veterans office, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. Billing clerk, Obrion, Russell and Company, Boston, MA.

Anna was an avid volunteer which included Bethlehem Lutheran Church choirs, and many other church roles, Girl Scout leader, Village Improvement Assoc., Elk county General Hospital Auxiliary, Elk County Foot lighters and Concert Assoc.

A celebration of the lives of Anna and Warren will be held in Ridgway, PA in the spring of 2019, date to be determined.

Memorials may be made in Anna’s name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ridgway, PA, or to your local chapters of the Alzheimer's Association ( or Hospice Organization ( Thank you, Tack så mycket!
